    What is Xbox One?

The Xbox One is the next generation console from Microsoft that is aiming to become the entertainment centre of everyone's lounge. An 'all-in-one' device. No longer a purely video games machine now television, films, sports and video calls are all available seamlessly via the console.

Included is a Kinect sensor which allows you to control the console with just voice and physical movement and gestures. Just say "Xbox On" and you are welcomed with your personalised home screen. The sensor has been improved with a 1080p camera, wider field of view, functionality within various lighting conditions, voice recognition in noisy environments, ability to track 6 people simultaneously and perform heart rate tracking.

The console itself sports an 8 core x86 processor, Blu-ray player, 500GB hard drive and 8GB DDR3 memory of which 3GB is used by the operating system and 5GB for games. The casing is made up of a liquid black finish.

The controller looks very similar to the previous, however the 'Start' and 'Back' buttons have been replaced by 'Menu' and 'View' buttons and each trigger now has it's own vibration feedback. A total of 40 various changes have been made.

Three operating systems are used which allows users to seamlessly switch between functions like games and television (Xbox OS, a cut down version of Windows and a bridging OS). 'Snap' is a function which allows two functions to work at once like watching TV whilst playing a game.

Xbox Live has also been improved with notable changes including your 'shadow' competing against other players whilst you are offline and 'Smart Match' which virtually eliminates the frustrating wait in lobbies for multiplayer games to commence. Video calls via Skype now allow group calls with full HD resolutions. Cloud storage will be available via 300,000 servers to store games, films, music and saved content. This service is again subscription based and previous profiles for the Xbox 360 can be transferred.
